George Tibble was born in Halstead, Essex. He enlisted at Braintree, Essex.
A member of the 2nd battalion of the Northamptonshire Regiment, he landed at Le Havre in November 1914. Medal index card states entitlement to the bar.
George progressed up the ranks, he was awarded the Military Medal Gazetted 12th July 1918, by which time he was an Acting Company Sergeant Major. The gazette date indicates that the Military Medal was awarded for the German Spring Offensive.
Tragically after nearly 4 years of fighting and near the end of the war George was tragically killed in action on the 24th April 1918.
He was laid to rest in Adelaide Cemetery, Villers Bretonneux
