Pair to 26/351 A/Cpl W Inglis Northd Fus / KIA . Adanac Military Cemetery Somme
William or Willie Inglis was born in Gateshead upon Tyne.
Inglis enlisted in Newcastle upon Tyne joining the 26th battalion of the Northumberland Fusiliers or the 3rd Tyneside Irish. Possibly he took part in the attack on the 1st day of the Somme, unfortunately no papers have survived to confirm this.
William was sadly killed in action on 10th September 1916, probably by artillery while digging jumping off trenches between Cameron Trench and Muster Alley.
He was laid to rest in Adanac Military Cemetery, Miraumont, Somme.
