Frederick Benjafield was born in Springbourne Hampshire in 1882.
A Labourer by trade, he attested for the Hampshire Regiment in October 1902. Transferred to the army reserve on 12th October 1905, he was recalled on 8th August 1914. Landed with the 1st Hampshire’s as part on the BEF on 12th November 1914.
He served in France & Flanders until 20th February 1915, after which he was on Home service until his discharge on 12th October 1915.
Benjafield was awarded the 1914 Star trio and was entitled to the bar.
