German Spring Offensive Prisoner of War group to Captain Leonard Whitworth Taylor Durh L I
Leonard Whitworth Taylor was born on 29th March 1880. Educated at Warwick School and New College Oxford gaining an M.A. Headmaster of Darlington Grammar School from 1913 until 1933.
A Captain in the OTC having joined in 1906, to France 21st February 1917 as a Lieutenant, quickly promoted to Captain.
Taylor was captured and wounded captured during the German Spring Offensive while leading an attack. Extracts from Durham forces in the field will be included with the group. Released and repatriated the resumed his position at Darlington Grammar School.
Awarded the OBE in 1947 on the occasion of the Kings Birthday.
